    About Thomas Bunnik

Thomas Bunnik is a Dutch serial entrepreneur and technology executive, best known as the Co-founder and CEO of digital wealth manager Pritle (exit BinckBank) and Co-founder and CEO of Whoppah, https://www.whoppah.com, Europe's largest online marketplace for secondhand designer furniture, interior items, and art. He is recognized as an innovative leader in the European technology and sustainability sectors, with a track record of building and successfully exiting multiple ventures.

    ABN AMRO Bank (2006–2014)

Bunnik began his professional career at ABN AMRO Bank at age 22, where he worked for approximately eight years. During his tenure at the bank, he held positions in investment services, with deep expertise in financial products, portfolio management, and client advisory.

In 2009, Thomas launched MoneYou, an online investment platform, as a subsidiary of ABN AMRO. In 2010, he launched ABN AMRO's online fund trading platform for retail and private banking. In 2013, Thomas launched the global product approval management system for ABN AMRO's internal organization across 4 continents.

During his last three years at the bank, Thomas was globally responsible for product development and fund distribution, ETFs, and listed real estate. He frequently worked seven days a week, demonstrating the intense work ethic that would characterize his entrepreneurial ventures.

Despite his dedication, by 2012 Bunnik felt unfulfilled in his banking role. During a weekend trip to Las Vegas in December 2012, he began seriously contemplating entrepreneurship. After initially considering various business ideas including theme travel services and AI-based travel recommendations, he ultimately decided to leverage his banking expertise to address what he saw as fundamental issues in the investment industry.

    Pritle (2014–2017)

In 2014, Thomas Bunnik founded Pritle, an automated digital wealth management platform (robo-advisor) designed to make index fund-based investing accessible to everyone at the lowest possible costs. The company was conceived as a solution to make investment services more client-focused, easier to use, and accessible to a wider audience.

After months of planning, designing, and seeking investment while still employed at ABN AMRO, Bunnik made the decisive commitment to leave the bank. In September 2013, on a flight from Wellington, New Zealand to Singapore (after an unsuccessful investor meeting), he created a detailed spreadsheet analyzing the pros and cons of becoming a full-time entrepreneur.

Pritle officially launched on October 15, 2015. The platform offered automated, algorithm-based wealth management services. The company expanded operations into four European countries and built a team of 32 full-time employees representing 10 different nationalities.

On April 3, 2017, Pritle was acquired by BinckBank for €12.5 million (approximately $13.4 million). The purchase price consisted of €7.5 million in cash and €5 million in BinckBank shares.

    Whoppah (2019–Present)

On May 21, 2019, Thomas Bunnik and his wife Evelien Bunnik-Remmelts co-founded Whoppah in Utrecht, Netherlands. The platform was created with the mission to make buying and selling secondhand designer furniture and interior items inspiring, easy, and accessible.

Whoppah's broader mission is to accelerate the reuse of beautifully designed items and revolutionize how people view secondhand design, making it the standard consumer choice. By 2030, one million preloved design items should have found new homes.

Since its 2019 launch, Whoppah has grown to connect over one million users, established as the largest secondhand interior marketplace in Europe, secured €5 million in funding in a 2023 funding round, and is valued at approximately $52 million as of 2024.

Under Bunnik's leadership, Whoppah acquired Design Market (September 2024) and Showroommodellen (October 2025). In September 2025, Whoppah announced it had achieved profitable growth after six years of operations.
